The Department of Science education and the Niels Bohr Institute jointly announces the availability an Assistant Professor position. The position will be hosted within the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for University Science Education (USE) and the Novo Nordisk Quantum Computing Programme (NQCP). With the position NQCP and the USE Center joins efforts to enhance the excellence, capacity and impact of science education research within quantum technologies to ensure an optimally trained long-term quantum workforce.
Role description
The Assistant Professor will be the backbone of the collaboration between the USE Center and NQCP. The Education and Workforce development (E&W) group within NQCP drives a range of educational activities within the field of quantum technologies and the assistant professor will establish a bridge between the NQCP E&W activities to the cutting-edge science education research carried out at the USE Center inclusive of the University of Copenhagen, Southern Denmark University and Aarhus University. The assistant professor will one hand inform and enhance the impact of the educational activities of the NQCP E&W group and on the other hand use the unique training taking place to conduct new science education research within the field of quantum technologies at the USE Center.
Qualifications
We imagine that you are post doc or assistant professor and that you have already established an individual research profile within the area of physics education research. You have built up an internationally recognized portfolio of science education research results relevant for the field of physics or quantum technologies and a have personal drive to ensure that your research results also have direct impact on training.
At this point in your career, you are highly motivated to conduct and link physics education research with strategic educational initiatives aimed at securing a competitive quantum workforce. You thrive in the cross field between science education research and implementation of strategic educational initiatives, leading to a workforce prepared for technological developments. You enjoy supervising and teaching and using your excellent communication skills to connect research environments within science education and quantum technology. You always have an eye out for possible new ways to approach science education and deep desire to ensure that your research come to the benefit of people and society.
The assistant professor’s duties will primarily include research, including obligations with regard to publication/scientific communication and research-based teaching with associated examination obligations within Quantum Technology Didactics. To a limited extent this may also include performance of other duties.
Assessment of applicants will primarily consider their level of documented, internationally competitive research. The ability to attract external funding will be considered together with outreach qualifications. Teaching qualifications are not mandatory but documented teaching qualifications and teaching experience will be considered.
